The Sandbox invites users to delve into history, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korean War ceasefire, bringing the ‘Incheon Landing Operation’ to its Metaverse playable now through NFTs until September 27.

Although the operation may not resonate internationally, it is a landmark event during the Korean War — a startling sea attack by UN forces in 1950 on North Korea. The large-scale naval campaign was initially considered next to impossible, battling against a 1 in 5,000 likelihood of success. However, the brutal three-year process caught North Korean forces off guard, aiding UN forces at the Pusan Perimeter.

Users entering The Sandbox Incheon Landing Operation can soon relive this momentous operation, traveling through time via digital exhibitions and engaging in thematic mini-games.

NFTs, Real World Rewards, and Historical Connections

Taking an extra intriguing route, the virtual Incheon Landing Operation experience presents the chance for The Sandbox venturers to invest in theme-related NFTs, spanning from a spectrum of historical artifacts: Naval Warships, Palmido Lighthouse, a General’s Camouflage Kit, etc.

The digital assets offer numerous benefits, from physical and in-game rewards. These prizes include two types of Airborne Bomber Jacket NFTs, complimentary Incheon Hyatt Grand Hotel accommodation, and real-world Incheon Day Tour and Incheon Dodo Island tickets, depending on the amount of NFTs purchased.

As an additional incentive for participation, all NFT holders will automatically be entered into a 50,000 $SAND pool when partaking in the captivating gameplay until the end.

All proceeds from the NFT sales will also support the ‘6.25 Korean War Veterans Association’ — a worthy cause supporting veterans from across the globe. The Metaverse quest goes beyond NFT gameplay into an emotional journey whereby users can pay tribute and express gratitude to the veterans who put their lives on the line.
