The board of the Global Esports Federation (GEF), the body responsible for promoting the credibility, legitimacy, and prestige of esports across the globe, has established its own branch for delving into Web3. Coined the ‘GEF Metaverse Council,’ the new committee will seek to convene the expertise of an array of thought leaders and creators from across the Web3 space, in order to succinctly get its blockchain gaming ball rolling.

The ultimate goal of the GEF Metaverse Council is to leverage the knowledge and experience of its consultants, so it can then focus on shaping its own metaverse development initiatives within areas such as its global community, blockchain technologies, NFTs, and more.

The collection of hive-minded Web3 actors to be consulted by the council is comprised of crypto and NFT project developers, creative directors, domain experts, and social influencers within the space. Hugo Philion, the CEO and Founder of Flare (GEF’s global partner for blockchain ecosystems) will chair the council, with Melvin Kuek, Senior Advisor of the GEF, serving as its Vice Chair.

In speaking on the door-opening initiative, Philion had this to say: “Esports presents boundless potential and a world of opportunities for blockchain applications. I look forward to collaborating with the team, empowering individuals and communities to take better control of their collective futures and experiences, and interact with each other in ways not previously possible”.

Other members of the council include NFT influencer and Co-Founder of Enigma Ventures ‘Oxskellymode,’ director of Tiger Vision Global and Founder of NFT project Attack Tigers! ‘Sabertooth,’ Founder and Creative Director of play and earn metaverse project Jambo Mambo, ‘Melty Tanti,’ and MingWeiRocks, a leading Asian TikToker with over 22 million followers.
