As the development of NFTs in video games has continued to gain momentum over recent years, it was always going to be the interest of some truly big names that would really get the ball rolling. Now, it seems that time has come, with sports apparel giant, Nike, integrating it’s .SWOOSH NFTs into gaming goliath, Electronic Arts’, EA Sports ecosystem.
According to a recent Nike press release, these two industry heavyweights will use their collective might to “enhance the virtual sports experience for fans all over the world.” Effectively, allowing gamers to personalize and customize their EA Sports activities through the liberal application of NFTs.
Expected to launch later in the summer, the deal promises new immersive experiences for holders of .SWOOSH NFTs. Exactly how they will accomplish this, however, remains a tightly guarded secret.

Nike’s .SWOOSH Platform on the Rise
The news of the new EA Sports collaboration comes hot off the back of the inaugural NFT collection from the .SWOOSH project. Launching on May 15, and despite a few teething problems along the way, the platform shifted almost 100k sneaker NFTs, raking in over $1 million along the way. Now however, thanks to the epic new partnership with EA, these exciting digital assets will include enhanced utility through the sports gaming franchise.
For the wider NFT and Web3 gaming industry, this could indeed mark a watershed moment, where some of the biggest names in the world begin to take the technology in their stride.
