Animoca Brands has teamed up with star-studded hospitality franchise Planet Hollywood to form ‘MetaHollywood’. Within the joint venture will be a mass collection of NFTs, as well as a wider community-driven metaverse platform.
The MetaHollywood NFT collections will include 60,000 assets, with each depicting an iconic piece of memorabilia (whether that be a photograph, movie poster, or iconic fashion item) from a Hollywood-produced blockbuster. Films from all eras will feature in the collection, with NFTs based on characters played by the likes of Arnold Schwarznegger, Michael J. Fox, Jim Carrey, Scarlett Johansson, and many more, to be expected.
In addition to its NFT endeavour, MetaHollywood will also create a movie-centric NFT marketplace, where studios and creators can sell NFTs such as behind-the-scenes clips to fans. It will also launch ‘HWOOD,’ a native utility and governance token which will allow holders to influence decisions over community development. That being said, only 0.5% of the token’s supply will go up for public sale, as 12% will be allocated to the project’s marketing fund, and 10% will go to the fashion and content development fund for purchasing licensing rights.
In commenting on the company’s monumental (and first) plunge into Web3, Robert Earl, founder of Planet Hollywood, had this to say: “I am thrilled to partner with Animoca Brands as we launch Planet Hollywood into the metaverse. The universal appeal of film, along with our unprecedented collection of iconic memorabilia, make the possibilities limitless. Through MetaHollywood, we will offer utility and functionality that is unrivaled in this burgeoning sector, and I cannot wait to see what our users create using the power of their imagination”.
